WELCOME TO greenhouse
greenhouse is more than a program, an organization, a practice model, or coalition. greenhouse is a movement to realign the goals of child welfare.
We do that in three ways...
- By advocating for widespread public awareness of the need for change and adoption of the realigned goals
- By establishing and promoting a concrete replicable model based on the concepts and ideals we embrace
- By shining a light on programs, organizations, practice models, and coalitions that recognize and support the goals we advocate
greenhouse evolved from the notion that the goal of child welfare should be successfully raising every child to adulthood, that adulthood is not a measurement of time but rather a measure of whether or not one has made the necessary personal transition from childhood dependencies to full citizenship, and that full citizenship requires nothing more or less than a lifestyle of self-reliance, personal responsibility and community service.
Through greenhouse, we work to make the publicly supported welfare system better serve America and actually improve the lives of the children and families who find themselves the hapless victims of our benevolence, mercy and goodwill.
