About Our Foundation

Our Vision

The Foundation is developing a 31-acre parcel of land owned by Gateways for Youth and Families also known as the Jessie Dyslin Ranch.

The facility is centrally located between five major school districts in Pierce County, just off the State Highway 512/Interstate 5 transportation corridor. Partnerships with local schools, farmers, food processors, businesses, government, youth groups, community groups, local residents, associations and other organizations will ensure access to the programs and a steady-flow of participants with hundreds of children served annually. To ensure long-term sustainability, small business incubator clients, customers will bring in revenue while exposing young people and families in the community to healthy foods, nutrition and alternatives to unhealthy environments, thus generating ongoing public understanding and support. Exposure to agricultural-related activities includes personal development, education and training and utilization of experiential learning. Experiential learning is learning by doing. It occurs when a person is interacting with the environment. The Foundation plans to monitor its success of the programs by measuring outcomes against established benchmarks.

Making a Difference in the Lives of Our Kids and Families

We believe that our new direction will make a huge impact on kids and families in our community now and for generations to come.

Meeting the Need

The Foundation needs caring individuals who will volunteer time, expertise, materials, equipment and money to be successful. The work cannot be accomplished alone. The impact on our community will be priceless. The community return on investment will be equally significant. For every dollar spent today to help youth development, the community will save $10.51 in the future.*
