Goals and Accomplishments

Accomplishments for Calendar Year 2008

  • Awarded grants of $2,000 to $10,000 to nonprofits that share the mission of GATEWAYS, like Foster Parent Association of Washington State (FPAWS).
  • Established our SSTOPGAP program – training youth and adults with skills in order to find employment in the local area.
  • Improved our used clothing and house goods recycling program keeping over 2 million lbs of clothing out of landfills and providing clothing to hundreds of needy families in the South Puget Sound.

Accomplishments for Calendar Year 2009

  • The Foundation established the groundwork for a self-sustaining, revenue generating agribusiness model that will preserve valuable "working" agricultural land within urban development areas; allow social service non profits like GATEWAYS to survive through the toughest times while fulfilling their mission to help at risk children and families; and to transform how Americans impact the quality of life for our children and generations to come.
  • The Foundation established the Summit-Waller Farmers Market and the Summit Waller Farmers Market Association to aid in the transition from our used clothing and household goods recycling program to ourn self-sustaining revenue generating agribusiness model.
  • The Foundation placed 134 individuals in jobs through our SSTOPGAP program.
  • The Foundation hosed over 1600 individual volunteers through our volunteer and community service efforts.

Goals for Calendar Year 2010

  • The Foundation will finalize development and begin implementation of a self-sustaining, revenue generating agribusiness model that will preserve valuable "working" agricultural land within urban development areas; allow social service non profits like GATEWAYS to survive through the toughest times while fulfilling their mission to help at risk children and families; and to transform how Americans impact the quality of life for our children and generations to come.
  • The Foundation will establish the greenhouse Curriculum in partnership with NFPA.
  • The Foundation will begin construction of 11 greenhouses and heat the greenhouses and existing buildings with a renewable green energy system.
  • The Foundation will develope a program at Camp Carlson, a property on the Olympic Peninsula donated by Richard A. Carlson.
  • The foundation will develope and implement a new Donation Center and Program.
